Make one in a few minutes
- Press Make a farewell card. You get your own copy at its own link, with a free Solta account.
- Put their name on it: open it in Solta, choose Make changes, and say “Make it Dana's farewell card from the finance team.”
- Share the link where your coworker won't see it, with a date to sign by. Everyone signs from their phone or laptop.
- On their last day, send them the link, or open it on the big screen at their send-off and press Open the card.
What to write in a farewell card for a coworker
Two or three sentences is plenty. Name something real, say thank you, and wish them well. By how well you know them:
- A close coworker: “Lunch breaks won't be the same. Thank you for every pep talk before a big meeting. Your new team is lucky, and I expect updates.”
- Your boss: “Thank you for trusting me with the projects that scared me. I'm a better engineer for it. Wishing you the best in the new role.”
- Someone who reports to you: “Watching you grow into this role has been the best part of my year. Go show them what you showed us.”
- Someone you only knew a little: “It was a pleasure working with you. Congratulations on the new job, and best of luck.”
- Funny: “Who's going to fix the printer now? Congrats on the new gig. We'll miss you (and your snack drawer).”
- Retirement: “Congratulations on a career well done. Enjoy the golf, the grandkids and never setting an alarm again.”
Everyone who has the link reads every message, so keep it to what you'd say at the send-off.
When to send it around
About a week before their last day: enough time for people on vacation or in other time zones, close enough that nobody forgets. Remind people two days before. You can see how many have signed at the top of the card, and in Solta, where you can also remove a message that shouldn't be there.
