How to make a group card
- Press Make your group card. It makes your own copy of the card, at a link of its own, with a free Solta account.
- Change the name, the title and the words at the top. Open the card in Solta and choose Make changes, and say what you want: “Make it Maya's birthday card from the support team.”
- Copy the link and send it to everybody who should sign: in Slack or Teams, an email, or a group chat. Each person presses Sign the card, writes a message and their name, and picks a colour and a sticker.
- On the day, send the link to the person it is for, or open it on a screen together and press Open the card: one message at a time, with confetti.
What goes on the card
A message of up to 600 characters, a name, one of six colours and a sticker if they like. The messages sit on the card as notes, in the order they arrived. Photos, GIFs and video aren't on this card: it is words, which is also why it opens instantly on any phone.
Nobody needs an account to sign, and a message can't be changed once it is posted. You can remove any message, from the card's Saved data settings in Solta. Print gives a clean page of every message, which your browser can save as a PDF.
How many messages a card takes
- 10 messages free, on every card.
- A card pass: $9 once, for that card, and it takes 1,000. No subscription. £7 in the UK and €9 in the euro area, tax included.
- On Pro and Team, every card takes 1,000 without a pass.
When a card is full, a new message stays on the device of whoever wrote it, and the card says so. Once there is room, they post it with one press.
Who can see the card
A new card is Unlisted: anyone with the link can open it, sign it and read every message, and search engines are asked not to index it. To keep it to the people you sent it to, give it a password, which Free has on 1 site at a time. Who can open a site.
The messages are kept on Solta for you, the card's owner, and deleted with the card. On Free the card carries a small Solta badge, and it counts as one of your 3 live sites.
A group card for any occasion
The card is the same page for every occasion; only the words change. Ask for the one you need when you make it:
- A colleague leaving: an online leaving card, or a farewell card for a coworker, with what to write.
- A birthday, a work anniversary or a retirement.
- Thank you to a teacher, a coach or a volunteer, from the whole class or club.
- Get well soon, a new baby, or a wedding.
Questions
Is the group card free?
Yes, for up to 10 messages a card, with a free Solta account for whoever makes it. A card pass opens one card to 1,000 messages for $9 once. Nobody pays to sign.
Do people need an account to sign the card?
No. They open the link, press Sign the card, and write their message and name. Only the person who makes the card has an account.
Can I add photos, GIFs or video?
Not on this card. Each message is words, a colour and a sticker, which keeps the card quick to open on any phone.
Can someone change or delete their message?
A message can't be changed once it is posted. You, the card's owner, can remove any message from the card's Saved data settings in Solta, and it goes for everyone.
How long does the card stay up?
As long as you keep it: it is one of your sites, and its link keeps working until you take it offline or delete it. On Free it counts as one of your 3 live sites.
Can I download the card?
Press Print on the card for a page of every message, without the buttons; your browser's print window can save it as a PDF.
