Potluck sign up sheet template

What it is

A sign-up page for a made-up Friendsgiving potluck, the Saturday about three weeks from today. It lists what is already coming in six groups, from mains and sides to drinks and ice, each with how many are needed, a bar that fills, and open spots a guest can take with one tap. Every dish carries labels such as vegan, gluten-free or contains nuts, and the list can be filtered by them. A guest signs up with their name, how many adults and children are coming, the dish, how many it serves, its labels and whether they need the oven or the fridge; a group that is full can't be chosen, and the page warns when someone is already bringing something similar. The list copies as text for a group chat, and printing it gives a paper sheet with blank lines for the open spots.

Who it's for

Anyone hosting a potluck, a Friendsgiving, an office lunch or a team picnic who wants guests to see what is coming before they choose.

What you can change

You ask in plain words. These are the kind of changes people ask their AI for:

  • “Make it our office holiday lunch on December 12, with mains, sides, desserts and drinks only.”
  • “Clear the sample dishes and start the list empty.”
  • “Add these dishes people have already told me about to the list.”
  • “Ask each guest for an email so I can send a reminder the day before.”
  • “Make every group need twice as many dishes.”

How to make it yours

  1. Remix it. A copy lands in your library as a site of your own, at its own link. If you have no account yet, you are asked to make one, and the copy is made when you come back.
  2. Change it in Claude or ChatGPT. Add the Solta connector once, then ask for the change in plain words, for example: “Make my Potluck sign up our office holiday lunch on December 12, and clear the sample dishes.” It reads the site's code, makes the change and saves it as a draft. The link keeps showing the old version until you publish.
  3. Publish. Ask it to publish, or publish from the site in your library. The new version goes live at the same link, so nobody needs a new one.
  4. Turn the form on. This template posts each guest's name, how many adults and children are coming, the dish, its group, how many it serves, its labels, what they need on arrival and a note to /_solta/forms/potluck. In the site's Site settings → Forms, switch that form on; until you do, nothing is kept. Collecting answers is on every plan (how forms work).

Questions

Where do the sign-ups go?

The page posts each one to /_solta/forms/potluck, at its own address. Turn that form on in Site settings → Forms and every sign-up lands in the Answers tab, with a CSV button. Until you do, a sign-up stays on the guest's device and the page tells them so. Collecting answers is on every plan: Free keeps 100 answers a month for 30 days and emails you a daily digest; Pro and Team can email you each one.

Does the list update by itself when someone signs up?

Not as it comes. The dishes are written into the page, and a guest sees their own dish added on their device straight away. Copy new sign-ups from the Answers tab into the list, or ask your AI to, and publish again at the same link. A list that every guest's sign-up changes for everyone needs shared saved data, which is on Pro and Team; see Saving data.

What if a guest changes their mind?

They change their dish or say they can't come from the same device, and a new answer arrives saying so, so the latest one from each guest is the one to count.

Or start from what you already have

Paste the file your AI made, or publish it from the chat, and get a link of its own.
